The Monarch Butterfly is attracted to the fluffy, purple, flower spikes of the Liatris, also known as Blazing Star, Gayfeather and Snakeroot. It's a Texas native fall perennial that grows all over the pasture, but I can't get it to live in my flowerbed.
This is so wonderful, I use liatris all the time in the flower shop but have never seen it growing!! That butterfly is beautiful .
ReplyDeleteI have a purple spikey flower growing but it is Anise in my herb garden the stem is straight but the flower looks kind of like it. Love the butterfly! I keep seeing them flitting across the road with the leaves lately wondering why they are so late heading south.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't like my garden either. I enjoy looking at your photos! They are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite all time flower to dry! Make wonderful arrangements! Great photos!!!
